It’s been a good 9 months since I’ve written anything on this blog. And I apologize for keeping you waiting. Over the last year, I’ve had a lot of readers and lots of friends and family messaging me on Facebook with questions etc. I hope I’ve inspired people to explore the topic further than what they’ve found in my blog so far. I’ve also gotten a couple of ping backs (references to my blog on other sites – primarily forums) and this last one (I’m looking at you, certain Mark’s Daily Apple forum/journal person!) really encouraged me to, at the very least, let you all know that I haven’t given up. I’m still going strong and believe in this diet as the optimal way of eating and living a healthier and longer life. And I definitely still intend to continue writing.
Where was I?
As many of you know, I am a proud co-owner of Inphantry LLC. We officially opened up early 2011, and started with just my business partner and I. Pretty quickly off the bat, we hired two friends who we met and worked with in the same industry. Thus, making us a small team of 4. The first year alone was insane. By the end of the year, our tiny underdog team was competing for the same clients as the largest marketing and advertising agencies in Boston, and to an extent, the rest of the US. The following year, we grew to a team of 6 full time employees (and some awesome interns and temps) and winning a lot more projects with even larger clients. It’s been a wild ride… (with countless extremely unhealthy and detrimental all-nighters to pull off that impossible project deadline that other competitors weren’t willing to do).
As you might imagine, there wasn’t much time for me to invest in writing, but my learning never stopped. I can’t count the number of times that I happened upon some neat research and just wanted to tell everyone about it. My poor (brilliant) fiancée had to constantly put up with my incessant ramblings about these things after coming home from a 14 hour work day researching chemistry in a lab. I’m sure her brain is all “scienced out” by then. So Rhiannon, I apologize for that
But I digress. I’ve learned a lot in the past year, and continue to learn every day. Some opinions/thoughts/ideas/”facts” I’ve held have changed slightly, while others have been more solidified the deeper I delve into it. I’m still as obsessed with this topic as ever and whenever I take a break from work, I instinctually jump over to my favorite resources and look up those niggling questions bouncing around in my head all day, or week. And there are a lot of those. I say this time and time again. Diet/nutrition is one of those things where the more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.
Will I be back?
Absolutely. My primary goal in this update was to let you all know, I still plan on writing. I still have a lot to discuss. In the meantime, I just need to find better balance in my life as far as work and leisure goes. As soon as I hit that happy medium, you should start to see pretty frequent posts. With my desire to write at a peak right now, I think that will be soon rather than later. In the meantime, I do encourage you to check back frequently, or even better, follow my blog on Twitter (Follow @RicelessAsian) and I’ll post something up to tell you that there is new fresh content.
Final Thoughts on the Matter
Just wanted to extend a “Thank you” to everyone who has propagated my blog to their own friends, those who let me know that I’ve inspired them to try this diet out, those who simply show interested by asking me questions, and even those who just simply have hit “Like” whenever I post a little tidbit of info on Facebook, letting me know that my information isn’t just getting lost “in the cloud” somewhere. You guys inspire me to keep learning, and more importantly to stay honest and objective. All the world needs is more unhealthy “bro-science” and “you know, they say… [insert conventional wisdom with no real scientific basis].”
So to all those people, and readers to come in the future – Thank you!
